Where’s the buffalo plaid?

the selby

This came in the mail today and I’m a little giddy with anticipation.

nobody puts Baby in the corner. Unless they put Baby in a Matisse-filled corner

February 15, 2010

Blehck! This post title sure is a mouth-full! And listen, I did not come up with it.  I’m hoping that my  colleague who did will stick to the visual arts only! By the by, I’m not complaining about being shoved into a corner filled with Matisse prints. Nor, getting to wear a pretty frock, throwing some curls in my hair, and stepping out with my beau to a friend’s retirement party. All in all, a nice way to spend a Saturday evening.

toast travels

February 12, 2010

I love what Toast has been doing lately. Aside from their stunning clothes, beautiful housewares, and exquisite photography, they have now moved into the world of video, podcasts, and storytelling. TOAST TRAVELS is just what I needed to open up this morning. Something to take me away from here.

those eyes

February 3, 2010

What I find utterly wonderful about this man found here is that I can very easily imagine sitting down with him to share a dinner of oysters and champagne. Or, squirrel and moonshine.

The desire to dine with this gentleman is not as strong as the one above, but I like this portrait, too, found here. I suppose, though, that the obvious choice of nibbley would be chocolate.

The beards may seem like the common denominator of why I pulled these two photos together, but, truly, it’s the intensity of the eyes.  Tell me, when you look at a portrait do you envision dinners or conversations or something else entirely? The lighting? The setting?  I’m interested in knowing your thoughts.
